Lloyd Chosen to PBC Women’s Cross Country All-Academic Team
AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken women’s cross country runner Cassey Lloyd was named to the 2011 Peach Belt Conference Women’s Cross Country All-Academic Team on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011.
The announcement came from the league office in Augusta, Ga.
A junior, Lloyd is a now a two-time winner of the award. A member of the USC Aiken women’s soccer team for her first two years, Lloyd was named to the 2010 Peach Belt Conference Women’s Soccer All-Academic Team.
A native of Lexington, S.C., Lloyd has produced two top 30 performances in 2011. Her best performance came in a 26th-place finish at the Erskine Invitational. She also finished 27th at the Gamecock Invitational.
The first-year cross country runner boasts a 3.918 grade point average as a Biology major.
The Peach Belt Conference Women’s Cross Country
All-Academic Team is part of a season-long program recognizing the
outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the
classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the
All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have 1) participated in
at least half of his/her team’s events and be either a
starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative
grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one
full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach
Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the
teams.
Founded in 1991, the Peach Belt Conference is home to 30 NCAA
Division II National Championships. The league features 13 member
institutions in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida
and Alabama that compete in 13 championship sports. The 2011-12
members are Augusta State University, Armstrong Atlantic State
University, Clayton State University, Columbus State University,
Flagler College, Francis Marion University, Georgia College,
Georgia Southwestern State University, Lander University,
University of Montevallo, North Georgia College & State
University, University of North Carolina at Pembroke and the
University of South Carolina Aiken.
