Pacers Finish Second in Division II of Gamecock Invitational
2009 Gamecock Invitational Results
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The University of South Carolina Aiken women's cross country team finished second among Division II squads at the 5K 2009 Gamecock Invitational on Friday evening.
The event was held at Hilton Field in Fort Jackson.
The Pacers had an average time of 22:43.35 to finish just behind the Savannah College of Art & Design in the Division II section of the Gamecock Invitational. The University of South Carolina claimed the victory in the Division I section with an average time of 18:35.15.
For the second consecutive week, senior Jani Linde (Columbia, S.C./Dublin Coffman) led the Pacers, finishing fourth among Division II participants with a time of 20:28.58. The time would have placed her in the top 30 of all the Division I runners at the Gamecock Invitational.
Right behind Linde was junior Nicole Maitland (Chapin, S.C./Chapin), who ended her efforts on the night in fifth place with a time of 20:54.99. Maitland would have been among the top 35 runners in Division I in the event.
USC Aiken will next compete in the 2009 Wingate Invitational in Wingate, N.C. on Saturday, Sept. 12. The meet is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m.
