Pacer Volleyball Gains Crucial Region Win in Season Opener Over Lees-McRae

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Youth was served Friday afternoon at Wiliams Gymnasium as the University of South Carolina Aiken women’s volleyball team opened the 2010 season in dramatic fashion at the Carolina Challenge by downing tournament host and region foe Lees-McRae. The Pacers downed the 2009 Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament champion Bobcats, 3-2.

The Pacers will look to finish the first day of the two-day Carolina Challenge strong when they take to the court against another tough opponent in the Saints of Flagler College (1-0) in a 7 p.m. non-conference match. Last season Flagler made it all the way to the final four after claiming the 2009 Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament crowns in their first season in the PBC.
