Munoz to Join Pacer Volleyball Program
AIKEN, S.C – USC Aiken head
volleyball coach Glenn Cox announced the signing of Jennifer Munoz
to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, May 13.
Munoz joins the Pacer volleyball program out of Hopewell High
School in Aliquippa, Pa. Munoz played her club volleyball for
Renaissance National in Pittsburgh.
Cox now has eight incoming student-athletes in his 2009 class. Cox
signed Sara Reeves (Centerville, Va./Centerville), Samantha DeVries
(Orangeville, Ill./Orangeville), Ashley Farwell (Wake Forest,
N.C./Wake Forest-Rolesville), Alex Petock (Woodbridge,
Va./Woodbridge) and Shannon Byers (Morristown, Minn./Fairbault)
during the fall of 2008. He just recently picked up two more in
April of 2009. K.D. Almaraz joins the Pacer volleyball player
program out of Ventura, Calif., while Samantha Lukralle will come
to Aiken, S.C. from Lindenhurst, N.Y. Both players enter the
program as a libero.
“Jenn is a well trained, all-around player that can play OH
or RS for us this fall,” remarked Cox. “She plays club
for Mizuno Renaissance, which is one of the premier club programs
in the country. Adding a lefty hitter like Jennifer to the roster
adds a few more options and surprises for the Pacer
offense.”
The first starting freshman in Hopewell’s athletic history,
Munoz led her high school team in kills, aces and digs as a senior.
The team captain, Munoz made the Pennsylvania All-State Tournament
Team in 2008.
Munoz was a first team All-Section, All-Conference and
All-Pennsylvania selection both her junior and senior seasons of
high school.
In the classroom, Munoz claimed Hopewell’s Scholastic
Athlete Award (3.5+ GPA) as a freshman, sophomore, junior and
senior. Munoz is also a senior class representative and she
currently serves as Hopewell’s yearbook editor.
Munoz comes from a very athletic family. Her sister, Jessica, is a
diver at Clarion University and her father is the assistant
men’s and women’s golf coach at NCAA Division I Robert
Morris University.
