AIKEN, S.C. - After a very successful fall campaign, USC Aiken head tennis coach Steve Dahm released the 2011 Pacer men's and women's tennis schedules on Monday, Oct. 11.

"I have high hopes for the upcoming season," said Dahm. "If everything goes well, USC Aiken tennis could be a real force in the Peach Belt Conference, as well as the national rankings."

The 2011 USC Aiken men's and women's tennis schedules feature a full Peach Belt Conference schedule along with some non-conference matches against some of the top teams in the Southeast region.

The Pacers will open their 2011 season in the lower portion of the Peach State with two matches against Abraham Baldwin College (Feb. 4) and Valdosta State (Feb. 5). Both programs are perennial contenders nationally in their divisions as Valdosta State is a top program in NCAA Division II and ABAC is a top contender each year in the National Junior College Athletic Association. USC Aiken's men's tennis team earned an impressive 5-4 victory over ABAC last season.

USC Aiken will host its first home match of the 2011 just one day later as they welcome Young Harris to the USC Aiken Tennis Complex for a noon match on Sunday, Feb. 6.

After a short trip to Clark Atlanta on Tuesday, Feb. 8, USC Aiken's women's tennis team returns home for a 2 p.m. match against Erskine on Feb. 11.

The match commences a four-match homestand for the Pacer men and women that begins with a 2 p.m. home Peach Belt Conference match against Georgia College at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11. The Pacers will close out the weekend one day later against Limestone at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12.

The Limestone match concludes a six matches in nine days stretch to begin the season for the Pacers.

On Feb. 18, USC Aiken will play its third of its four consecutive home matches against Anderson at 2 p.m. A day later, USC Aiken will play host to Peach Belt Conference foe Flagler at 2 p.m.

USC Aiken hits the road just one day later to close out its week for a match against Benedict. The 11 a.m. match on Sunday, Feb. 20 will be played at the Southeast Park Tennis Complex in Columbia, S.C.

The Pacers will close out their first month of the 2011 season with two matches the final week of February, beginning with a showdown with national power Armstrong Atlantic State at home at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23. On Friday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m., USC Aiken will welcome non-conference foe Pfeiffer to the USC Aiken Tennis Complex.

USC Aiken will commence March at home with a match against Erskine at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 2.

The match against the Flying Fleet will be the final match for almost 16 days for the Pacer men before they return to action on Mar. 18 for the first of three matches in three days.

The USC Aiken women will play two important PBC matches next as USC Aiken will play at Montevallo on Mar. 5 and Clayton State on Mar. 6.

The first of the three consecutive matches for the Pacer men and women will pit the Pacers against Belmont Abbey at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 18 in Belmont, N.C. One day later, USC Aiken will play host to Peach Belt Conference foe North Georgia at 2:30 p.m. USC Aiken will then close out its weekend with a 2:30 p.m. match against Lander at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 20.

Two days later, USC Aiken's women's tennis team will play host to Augusta State at 2:30 p.m.

A much-needed five days of rest for the Pacer men after the tough stretch will allow the Pacers to prepare for PBC opponent Columbus State at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex at 2:30 p.m. on Mar. 25. USC Aiken will then travel to Americus, Ga. for a road match against Georgia Southwestern at 2 p.m. on Mar. 27. A couple days later, USC Aiken's men's tennis team will travel just up the road a bit for a 2:30 p.m. match against rival Augusta State at the Newman Tennis Center.

The Pacer women will take on the UNC Pembroke women next at 2:30 p.m. on Apr. 2.

The final match of the 2011 regular season for the Pacer men and women will be on Apr. 3 in Florence, S.C. against Francis Marion. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

The USC Aiken men's tennis team was ranked in the top 30 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for all of the 2010 season. The Pacers were ranked as high as 17th nationally.

Playing one of the toughest schedules in all of NCAA Division II tennis, USC Aiken was able to make its fifth consecutive NCAA regional appearance. The Pacers bowed out in the first round, but still finished the year with a very respectable 11-12 overall record. In the toughest tennis league in all of NCAA Division II, USC Aiken finished with a 2-7 mark in the Peach Belt Conference.

USC Aiken's 2010 women's tennis team closed last year with a 9-11 record. The Pacers finished their conference season with a mark of 4-8. The four wins in league play helped the Pacers reach at least four wins in league action for the third time in the last four years.
