Pacers 10th in Preseason PBC Women’s Soccer Poll
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women’s soccer team was tabbed to finish 10th in the Peach Belt Conference preseason women’s soccer coaches poll released by the league office on Monday, Aug. 22.
The Pacers captured a total of 17 votes to finish one spot ahead of Georgia Southwestern, who was in 11th with 14 votes.
The USC Aiken women’s soccer team begins the 2011 season looking to capitalize off the end of the 2010 season that saw the Pacers secure a positive result in four of its last five games.
In 2010 the Pacers were extremely young with 17 underclassmen. Most of those are now either upperclassmen or one year into the program so seventh-year head coach Sue Vodicka believes the Pacers’ youth movement is going in the right direction.
Vodicka welcomes back 11 letterwinners in total this season, including five returning starters. The Pacers also have seven exciting newcomers joining the squad in the upcoming year.
The USC Aiken women’s soccer team
will be the first Pacer athletic team to play in 2011 as they will
commence their season on the road in Hartsville, S.C. against Coker
at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1. Following the Coker match, USC
Aiken will stay in the Palmetto state for a 1 p.m. contest against
Newberry in Newberry, S.C. on Sunday, Sept. 1.
The Pacers will welcome Brevard to the “Pacer Pit” for
their first home game of the year at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept.
