King Records Lone Pacers Shot as USCA Get Shutout

BELMONT, NC – Freshman midfielder Kristin King had the lone shot for the University of South Carolina Aiken as the Pacers were defeated, 3-0, on October 28 by Belmont Abby. The Pacers drop to 3-13-2 as the Crusaders improve to 13-2-3.

Coming out strong, Belmont Abbey scored its first goal in the seventh minute of the game as Rebecca Mateo kicked the ball into the back of the net from 20-yards out.

Later in the period, Amanda Maddock took a shot from the right corner into the lower left side for the second goal of the game.

Then in the second period, Belmont Abbey’s Nicole Voets had a penalty kick for the third goal of the game.

The Pacers were out shot 11-1 but Belmont Abbey had nine fouls to USCA’a eight. Sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Westphal had three saves on the day while the Abby’s goalie recorded one.

The Cardinal and Navy will return to the field on Saturday November 1 when the Pacers recognize their seniors before the game against UNC Pembroke. First whistle is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the Pacer Pit.
