Hill Chosen Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken sophomore women’s basketball player Brittany Hill has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week.

The announcement came from the league office on Monday, Dec. 19.

Hill is USC Aiken’s first Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week since Hannah DeGraffinreed (Raleigh, N.C./Merrimack) claimed the award on Nov. 23, 2009.

The Mechanicsville, Va. native concluded USC Aiken’s three wins last week averaging 12.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.7 steals per game.

Hill finished her week shooting 68.2 percent (15-22) from the field, while hitting 80 percent (8-for-10) of her free throw attempts.

The Quinnipiac transfer commenced last week by scoring nine points in USC Aiken’s home win over Anderson on Monday, Dec. 12.

Hill scored a career-high 19 points to go along with five assists and a career-high four steals in USC Aiken’s win over Armstrong on Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Hill ended her week by scoring 10 points in USC Aiken’s overtime road win over Anderson on Saturday, Dec. 17. She scored six of her 10 points in the game in overtime. All six of the points in overtime came from the free throw line where she was a perfect 6-for-6.

Hill is presently the Peach Belt Conference assists leader with 43 on the 2011-12 season. Hill is also sixth in the PBC in field goal percentage (50.8 percent), seventh in the league in steals (21) and fifth in the conference in assist to turnover ratio (2.7).

Hill and the nationally 16th-ranked Pacers next open the month of January by diving head first into Peach Belt Conference action. The Pacers will commence the month on the road against Francis Marion in Florence, S.C. at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
