Harris Chosen South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week
AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken women’s basketball player Kayla Harris was named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on Feb. 13, 2012.
Harris has now claimed the award four times in the 2011-12 season. She was also selected the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on Dec. 5, 2011, Jan. 8, 2012 and Jan. 29, 2012.
Harris led four Pacers in double figures in No. 15 USC Aiken’s 65-62 road win over No. 17 Lander on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012.
Harris concluded the win over Lander with 21 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. She was 8-for-15 (53.3 percent) from the field in the game.
The sophomore forward from Raleigh, N.C. followed up her performance against Lander by posting 13 points and five rebounds in the Pacers’ home win over UNC Pembroke on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Overall on the week, Harris averaged 17 points, nine rebounds, three assists and one steal per game.
Harris finished her week shooting 46.2 percent (12-for-26) from
the field.
