Pacer Basketball in Elite Company Nationally

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken is one of only four NCAA Division II institutions to currently have both their men’s and women’s basketball teams nationally ranked.

The USC Aiken women’s basketball team is presently ranked 15th nationally, while the Pacer men are currently ranked 24th.

Joining USC Aiken in this prestigious club is Metro State (men #3, women #4), Alaska-Anchorage (men #25, women #12) and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (men #16, women #18).

USC Aiken’s men’s (14-3, 8-1 PBC) and women’s (15-2, 8-1 PBC) basketball teams currently have a combined record of 29-5.

Only Metro State at 33-2 has a better combined record of the Division II nationally-ranked men’s and women’s basketball teams than USC Aiken.

The USC Aiken men’s and women’s basketball teams are a combined 20-0 (men 9-0, women 11-0) inside the friendly confines of the Convocation Center in the 2011-12 regular season.

The 20-0 combined home record is the best among the men’s and women’s nationally ranked teams. Metro State has yet to lose a men’s or a women’s game at home, but they are currently a combined 19-0 in their home facility.

The USC Aiken women will next travel to Montevallo, Ala. for its first game against former Pacer assistant Cindy Hilbrich and the Montevallo Falcons. USC Aiken head coach Mike Brandt and the Pacers will take on his former protégé Hilbrich and the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. EST on Thursday, Jan. 26.

The same night, the Pacer men will hit the hardwood for a battle of the current top teams in the Peach Belt Conference East and West Divisions. USC Aiken's showdown with Montevallo is slated to tip off at 8:30 p.m. EST on Thursday, Jan. 26 in Montevallo, Ala.
