DeGraffinreed Named November Sunrise Rotary Student of the Month
AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken women’s basketball student-athlete Hannah DeGraffinreed has been selected as the November Sunrise Rotary Student of the Month.
DeGraffinreed is the second straight Pacer student-athlete to win the school award as Tripp Warrick (North Augusta, S.C./North Augusta) of the USC Aiken baseball team was chosen the October Sunrise Rotary Student of the Month.
A Sociology major, DeGraffinreed was named to the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll in the summer of 2011.
She begins the 2011-12 USC Aiken women’s basketball season as a preseason All-Conference selection.
DeGraffinreed (Raleigh, N.C./Merrimack College) concluded last season by being selected to the 2010-11 Peach Belt Conference All-Conference Second-Team.
DeGraffinreed, who was also tabbed to the 2011 Peach Belt All-Tournament Team, averaged 11.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game last year.
DeGraffinreed set a new PBC Tournament record last season by hitting all seven of her shots in USC Aiken's Peach Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinal win over Francis Marion. She was fourth in the conference overall last year with a .538 field goal percentage. She scored in double figures 24 times last year.
The senior also claimed two double-doubles during the 2010-11 season, including finishing with 17 points and 14 rebounds in USC Aiken’s win over then No. 2 Lander on Feb. 23, 2011.
DeGraffinreed and the Pacers will begin their 2011-12 regular season at home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15 against 2011 Peach Belt Conference Tournament champion Georgia College. The contest will not be a Peach Belt Conference game though.
