DeGraffinreed Chosen South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week

AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken women’s basketball player Hannah DeGraffinreed was selected as the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on March 7, 2011.

A second team All-Peach Belt Conference selection in 2010-11, DeGraffinreed concluded USC Aiken’s three games in the 2011 Peach Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament by being named to the All-Tournament team.

In USC Aiken’s three games in the tournament she averaged a team-best 14.3 points per game to go along with 3.7 rebounds per game.

DeGraffinreed opened the 2011 PBC Tournament on Wednesday, March 2 by setting a new PBC Tournament record by going a perfect 7 for 7 from the field in USC Aiken’s thrilling 71-66 quarterfinal victory over Francis Marion. The Raleigh, N.C. native scored 17 points in the Pacer win.

In USC Aiken’s 73-72 overtime victory over national No. 1 Clayton State in the PBC Tournament semifinals on Saturday, March 5, DeGraffinreed ended her efforts with 16 points and five rebounds.

The junior forward closed her PBC Tournament by scoring 10 in USC Aiken’s championship game loss to Georgia College on Sunday, March 6.

In total on the week, DeGraffinreed shot a staggering 88.2 percent (15 for 17) from the field.
