Kornegay Tabbed to PBC Softball Preseason All-Conference Team
AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken sophomore pitcher India Kornegay has been named to the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Softball Preseason All-Conference Team.

Team was released from the conference office. As selected by the
league’s head coaches, the 12-member team features players
from seven of the league’s 11 softball-playing schools.
The 2011 Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, Kornegay
started 26 games for the Pacers last season. She appeared in 28
games in total.
Kornegay (Eufaula, Ala./Eufaula) tallied 20 complete games in 2011 to go along with 219 strikeouts (fourth-best in PBC). She owned an earned run average of 1.62 during her freshman season.
Kornegay recorded seven shutout victories on the 2011 season, including one no-hitter in the second game against St. Andrews on Mar. 23, 2011.
A two-time recipient of the Days Inn Downtown Aiken USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month and the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week awards, Kornegay is already fifth all-time in school history in total strikeouts with her 219 strikeouts.
Kornegay, who was a three-time 2011 Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week (Feb. 22, Mar. 8 and Mar. 28) and the Feb. 15, 2011 Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, ended her first season in a Pacer uniform with a 13-10 record. She also acquired two saves. Kornegay’s foes hit just .159 (second-best in PBC) against her last year. She was also in the conference top five in ERA, innings and starts.
Kornegay was a Second-Team All-Peach Belt Conference selection in 2011.
The 2011 USC Aiken Softball team concluded its season by earning a trip to its second NCAA Division II Southeast Regional in the last three seasons.
The Pacers finished their campaign in 2011 with a record of 26-18. Playing in one of the toughest conferences in all of NCAA Division II Softball in the Peach Belt Conference the Pacers were 9-11.
The Pacers will open their 2012 season on the road against Catawba on Saturday, Feb. 18. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m.
USC Aiken will begin its 2012 home campaign with three consecutive doubleheaders. The first Pacer home twinbill of the year will feature USC Aiken squaring off against Queens on Sunday, Feb. 19.
