2011 USC Aiken Softball Schedule

AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken head softball coach Jerry Snyder released the Pacers’ 2011 softball schedule on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010.

"This is another very tough schedule,” mused Snyder. “Not only playing within arguably the toughest conference in Division II softball but also playing seven out of the eight teams that went to the NCAA regionals last year. But I feel we are going to be up to the challenge and I have always believed that you have to beat the best to be the best."

USC Aiken’s spring 2011 schedule features 21 doubleheaders with 11 home dates and a full Peach Belt Conference slate. The Pacers will commence their season with three home doubleheaders at J.H. Satcher Field.

The Pacers will open their 2011 campaign with two doubleheaders in as many days beginning on Saturday, Feb. 12 when Brevard travels to Aiken for a pair of games scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Last season was the first meeting between the two programs with each team claiming one game of their doubleheader to begin the series at 1-1.

The very next day on Sunday, Feb. 13, USC Aiken will be back in action against Shaw for the first time since the 2002 season with the first game slated to begin at 1 p.m. USC Aiken holds a 2-0 lead over the Bears in the series.

USC Aiken will open its Peach Belt Conference schedule two days later on Tuesday, Feb. 22 when they return home to J.H. Satcher Field to host the Bearcats of Lander University. The PBC doubleheader will commence at 3 p.m.

The Pacers will hit the road for the second time for a pair of road doubleheaders including one conference set. USC Aiken will first travel to Wingate, N.C. where they will challenge the Bulldogs of Wingate University on Friday, Feb. 25 beginning at 1 p.m. before finding themselves in the Tar Heel State once again as they travel to Pembroke, N.C. for a 1 p.m. PBC doubleheader against the Braves of UNC Pembroke on Saturday, Feb. 26. Just one day later on Saturday, Mar. 3 the softball squad will begin a season-long road stint of four games on the road. The road trip begins with the Pacers traveling down I-20 to Florence, S.C. where they will challenge PBC in-state rivals Francis Marion beginning at 1 p.m.

Savannah, Ga. is the final destination on the slate for USC Aiken’s road-trip on Thursday, Mar. 10. The Pacers will look to end their time on the road with a PBC doubleheader against the Pirates of Armstrong Atlantic State starting at 1 p.m.

The Pacers will welcome the second of three squads known as the Saints to J.H. Satcher Field on Saturday, Mar. 12 when Limestone marches into town. The doubleheader will renew a rivalry that has not been renewed since the 2006 season and is slated to begin at 2 p.m.

The Pfeiffer Falcons are next for USC Aiken as the softball squad will travel to Misenheimer, N.C. for a Friday doubleheader. The Falcons and Pacers will tangle beginning at 2.p.m. on Mar. 18.

The Pacer softball squad will shut the doors on their conference schedule as well as their regular season with a road-game against rival Augusta State at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 9. The Pacers claimed the last meeting between the two programs last season to advance into the second round of the 2010 PBC Softball Tournament.

The USC Aiken softball squad has shared much success recently, including having been ranked nationally at some point during the last two seasons. The 2010 Pacers were ranked a softball program preseason-best, 13th in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Preseason Top-25 poll, and remained ranked well into the season ending their season with an even record of 23-23 after bowing out of the 2010 PBC Softball Tournament in the PBC Tournament semifinals keeping the Pacers’ current streak of 20-win seasons alive at seven seasons.
