USC Aiken Softball Ready for NCAA Selection Show

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team will learn of its destination in the 64-team 2011 NCAA Division II Softball Tournament during the official selection show at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 9.

The NCAA Division II softball selection show will be able to be viewed live on the NCAA's official website at www.NCAA.com.

The Pacers are currently seventh in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region. The top eight teams in each region advance to regional play.

USC Aiken will be making its second appearance in regional play in the last three seasons.

The Pacers earned their first ever NCAA Tournament bid in 2009. USC Aiken concluded 2009 ranked a program-best 12th in the nation.

The 2011 USC Aiken softball team is currently 26-16 in the 2011 season. The Pacers finished play in one of the toughest conferences in Division II softball in the Peach Belt Conference with a record of 9-11.

The Southeast Region will be divided into two four-team regionals that will be contested May 13-15. The hosts of the two four-team regionals will not be known until the official selection show.

The winner of each of the two four-team regionals will advance to the Super Regionals on May 20-21 at the facility of the highest seed remaining.

The NCAA Division II Softball Championship series will be contested May 26-30 at the Moyer Complex in Salem, Va.
