Weather Once Again Forces Pacers to Postpone Season-Opening Twinbill

AIKEN, S.C. - Due to frigid temperatures and high winds, USC Aiken's scheduled softball doubleheader with Newberry at J.H. Satcher Field on Wednesday afternoon has been postponed.

The two will now play a twinbill on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at J.H. Satcher Field, beginning at 2 p.m.

The latest postponement means that the Pacers, who were supposed to play three home doubleheaders before going on the road, will now open their season on the road in Charlotte, N.C. against Queens on Sunday, Feb. 14.

The Valentine's Day doubleheader matinee is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

USC Aiken will play its first home doubleheader of the year on Tuesday, Feb. 16 against Erskine. The twinbill is set to begin at 4 p.m. The Pacers will then play the doubleheader with Newberry the very next day on Wednesday, Feb. 17.

The USC Aiken softball team was ranked 13th in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 preseason poll, which was released on Wednesday, Jan. 27.

The ranking is the highest ever preseason national ranking for the Pacer softball program. The Pacers concluded the 2009 season ranked a program-best 12th.
