Men's Draw

Women's Draw

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - USC Aiken's Gregory Andrade advanced to the finals of the men's "A" consolation draw of the USC Upstate Fall Classic at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex on Saturday.

Andrade (Sao Paulo, Brazil) won 7-6 (6), 6-3 over his opponent from Furman before moving on to the finals. Andrade fought hard to pick up the victory in the consolation draw, but Presbyterian College's Matt Martin earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory over him in the finals to claim top honors in the men's "A" consolation draw.

Andrade was the only Pacer to advance to the finals on Saturday, but he was not the only USC Aiken tennis player in action.

Pacer freshman Niclas Markiewicz (Liege, Belgium) took on Clemson's Maritz Dettinger in the semifinals of the men's "C" draw. Markiewicz fell 6-2, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (5) to the ACC player to debunk his notions of claiming the draw.

In women's "C" singles, Brittany Telford (Newmarket, Canada) played Charleston Southern's Angie Torres for the right to move on to the finals of the draw. Torres earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Telford to knock her out of the event.

In the consolation section of the "C" draw, USC Aiken's Courtney Hall (Watkinsville, Ga.) took on Appalachian State's Coffey for the chance to move to the finals of the consolation section of the draw. Hall fell 6-4, 6-0 to Coffey.

In women's doubles the Pacer tandem of Mathilde Grenet (Doumont, France) and Telford fell 8-4 to PC's Megan Davis and Paige Oelke on Saturday morning. Grenet and Telford were vying to advance to the finals of the women's "B" doubles draw.

USC Aiken will next take part in the ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Sept. 18 and Sept. 19.
