Pacers Easily Dispatch North Georgia for Inaugural League Victory of 2010
DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The 17th-ranked USC Aiken men’s
tennis team returned from a 15-day layoff showing no signs of rust
in a 9-0 Peach Belt Conference road victory over North Georgia at
the North Georgia Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The victory is USC Aiken’s first Peach Belt Conference
victory of the 2010 season. USC Aiken is now 7-5 overall and 1-3 in
the extremely tough PBC.
North Georgia drops to 1-11 on the 2010 season with its loss to the
Pacers. North Georgia is currently 1-3 in the PBC.
The Pacers opened the match by easily taking all three doubles
matches.
In singles, all but one of USC Aiken’s six wins was in
straight sets. Ben Klass (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia/Deutsche Schule
Kuala Lumpur) obtained the biggest win of the day for the Pacers at
No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over North Georgia’s
Brandon Sloan.
The Pacers next welcome rival and Peach Belt Conference foe Augusta
State to the USC Aiken Tennis Complex on Tuesday, March 23. The
match is scheduled to get underway at 2:30 p.m.
