2011 USC Aiken Men's Soccer Schedule
AIKEN, S.C. – Preparing to commence his 16th season at the helm of the University of South Carolina Aiken men’s soccer program, Ike Ofoje unveiled the 2011 Pacer schedule on Monday, May 23, 2011.
The 2011 USC Aiken men’s soccer schedule features nine home games at the “Pacer Pit” to go along with a full complement of Peach Belt Conference games.
"I feel pretty good about our schedule again this year,” noted Ofoje. “Competing in the Peach Belt Conference and the southeast region has really gotten tougher the past three years. As a program, we continue to raise the level of our game as a result. Hopefully, this will be a great year for us!”
Before opening its 2011 regular season the Pacers will have some warm-up contests, including a road exhibition against NCAA Division I foe Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga. on Wednesday, Aug. 17. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Eagle Field.
USC Aiken will begin its 2011 regular season in Morrow, Ga. in a tournament on the campus of Clayton State. USC Aiken will have two games in the tournament, beginning with its season opener against Conference Carolinas foe Pfeiffer at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2. The match will mark the first time the Pacers have played the Falcons since 2008.
USC Aiken will close the event against regional power Anderson at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Pacers are 5-2 all-time against the Trojans.
Just two days after the Clayton State Tournament, USC Aiken will open play at the “Pacer Pit” with the first of a season-high three consecutive home matches.
On Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 5, USC Aiken will play host to Palm Beach Atlantic at 6 p.m. It will be the first ever meeting between the two programs.
The Tornados of Brevard will visit USC Aiken for the first time next for a 7:30 p.m. game on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
The Pacers’ homestand will finish on Saturday, Sept. 10 with USC Aiken commencing Peach Belt Conference action against North Georgia. Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
USC Aiken defeated Newberry in a thrilling 2-1 overtime win in 2010 at the “Pacer Pit” and the Pacers will look to continue their winning ways against the Wolves in a 4:30 p.m. match on Wednesday, Sept. 14. The Pacers will then travel to Hartsville, S.C. to face off against Coker at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. The Pacers and Cobras tied 0-0 in 2010.
The Pacers will close out its first full month of the 2011 season with two home games, beginning with a home game against Mars Hill at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The Pacers own a 2-0 all-time series advantage over Mars Hill.
USC Aiken will square off against Lenoir-Rhyne for the first time since 2002 in its final game of the month of September. The Pacers and Bears will kick things off at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24.
The month of October for Pacer men’s soccer will start with USC Aiken beginning a stretch of six straight games against conference opposition.
USC Aiken will begin the stretch by traveling to defending Peach Belt Conference Tournament champion Montevallo for a 3 p.m. EST game on Sunday, Oct. 2. On Wednesday, Oct. 5, USC Aiken will travel to Pembroke, N.C. for a 7:30 p.m. game against UNC Pembroke.
The Pacers will play their second home league contest of the year on Saturday, Oct. 8 against Georgia Southwestern at 5 p.m. USC Aiken is 5-1 all-time against the Hurricanes.
After a 4 p.m. road league game against Francis Marion in Florence, S.C. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, USC Aiken will play host to league and region power Flagler at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15.
The Pacers will travel to Lander for their final road game of the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 19. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
After a week off, USC Aiken will play its final two games of the regular season at the “Pacer Pit.”
USC Aiken’s final non-conference clash of the year will be against Conference Carolinas foe St. Andrews at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The Pacers own a 6-2-4 all-time series lead over the Knights.
The final match of the regular season will feature the Pacers taking on 2010 Elite Eight participant Clayton State at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the “Pacer Pit.”
