Watson Chosen to PBC Men’s Soccer Preseason All-Conference Team

AUGUSTA, Ga. – USC Aiken senior midfielder Troy Watson was named to the 2010 Peach Belt Conference Preseason Men’s Soccer team it was announced by the league office on Tuesday, Aug. 24. 

Watson is a member of the PBC preseason all-conference team for the second straight campaign. He was tabbed to the PBC men’s soccer all-conference team at the conclusion of the 2009 season.

Watson led the Pacers last season with a team-high seven goals and seven assists for a team-high 21 total points. Named to the 2009 All-PBC team as a second team midfielder, Watson finished the regular season in the top 10 in the PBC in seven different categories.

Watson was selected as the PBC Player of the Week twice in 2009, winning the award on Sept. 9 and Sept. 22. Watson netted three match-winning shots in 2009.

The 2010 PBC Preseason Men’s Soccer team features 12 members due to a tie for the final spot at midfielder. Eight of the nine conference teams had members named to the squad with two each from Flagler, Lander, Montevallo and North Georgia. Clayton State, USC Aiken, UNC Pembroke and Francis Marion had a single player honored.

Watson and the USC Aiken men’s soccer team will kick off their regular season with two games during the first four days of September. The Pacers will first play host to Conference Carolinas foe Limestone at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2. Two days later, USC Aiken will hit the road for the first time to square off against Catawba at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4.
