Montevallo Bests Pacers in First Ever League Meeting Between Two Programs
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - USC Aiken dropped its first ever Peach Belt Conference meeting with Montevallo on Sunday, Oct. 11 by the score of 4-0.
The loss was USC Aiken's fourth straight, leaving the Pacers at 4-7-1 entering their next match. Montevallo moved to 6-5-1 on the year with the victory. USC Aiken is now 1-3 in the PBC, while Montevallo is currently 2-3 in the league after its shutout victory over the Pacers.
James Steer led the Falcons in the match with a goal and two assists. Four different Falcons scored in the match with Milan Pualic, Steer, Phil Jackson and Nathaniel Foster all scoring in the win over the Pacers.
Montevallo finished with 22 shots in the match. USC Aiken acquired 12 shots in the match. The Pacers held an 8-4 advantage in corner kick chances.
USC Aiken's Andray Charles (Grenada, West Indies/Presentation Brother's) returned from injury to take his place between the pipes in the match. Charles made eight saves in the Pacer loss.
The USC Aiken men's and women's soccer teams will play two crucial Peach Belt Conference doubleheaders this week.
The first PBC twinbill of the week for the two programs will be on Wednesday, Oct. 14 in Greenwood, S.C. against Lander. The Pacer women will kick things off on the day by taking on the Bearcats at 4:30 p.m. Immediately following the match, the USC Aiken men will take on the Lander men at approximately 7 p.m.
The USC Aiken women's soccer team will take the pitch for a 1 p.m. match against Peach Belt Conference rival Clayton State on Saturday, Oct. 17 in Aiken, S.C. The match is the first match of a men's and women's soccer PBC doubleheader at the "Pacer Pit" with the Pacer men slated to square off against the Laker men immediately following the women's match at approximately 3:30 p.m.
