Lewis Named to PBC All-Tournament Team
AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Peach Belt Conference announced on Monday, Nov. 9 that USC Aiken's Alex Lewis has been named to the 2009 Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer All-Tournament team.
A four-year starter for the Pacers, Lewis (Tampa, Fla./Shorecrest) played in and started in all 19 matches for the Pacers in the 2009 season. He logged a team-best 1,530 minutes on the pitch this past season.
Lewis ended his career with one goal and three assists in his final season in a Pacer uniform in 2009. He scored his lone goal on the season in USC Aiken's 4-0 win over St. Andrews on Oct. 27.
A defender, Lewis' honor is his first postseason accolade. He was a two-time Peach Belt Conference Preseason All-Conference team member, earning the award in 2007 and 2008.
Lewis is one of three Pacers to earn league honors since the conclusion of the 2009 season. John Lesko (Richland, Wash./Richland) and Troy Watson (Kingston, Jamaica/Montreat) were both named to the 2009 PBC All-Conference team late last week.
USC Aiken had two players named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week in 2009 after freshman Scott Newby was named the league's Player of the Week after the final week of the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Watson was selected as the PBC Player of the Week twice (Sept. 9 and Sept. 22). In total, three Pacers earned weekly plaudits from the conference office with USC Aiken goalkeeper Andray Charles (Grenada, West Indies/Presentation Brother's) being named the PBC Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 15.
