Hailat Nets Four Goals to Lead Pacers to PBC Win Over Georgia Southwestern

Box Score

AIKEN, S.C. - Amr Hailat entered Saturday's Peach Belt Conference match against Georgia Southwestern scoreless in the 2009 season, but things changed dramatically for him on Saturday as he scored four goals to lead USC Aiken to a 4-1 win on senior day at the "Pacer Pit" on Saturday evening.

The Pacer win snapped a seven-match losing streak for USC Aiken, improving the Pacers to 5-10-1 in 2009. USC Aiken is now 2-6 in the PBC.

Hailat (Aiken, S.C./South Aiken) kicked his incredible evening off in the 29th-minute by blasting in a loose ball off a Corey Adamson (Clearwater, Fla./Clearwater) corner kick.

The Hailat tally would be all that either team would be able to acquire in the first half, but Hailat came back out in the second half ready to keep the Pacers rolling.

He scored his second of the match less than five minutes into the second stanza on a Fernando Gamez-Noriega (Sinaloa, Mexico/Colleton County) assist. Hailat was left alone in the box after being played by Gamez-Noriega. He took advantage of the situation by calmly placing the ball into the right corner of the net.

In the 57th-minute, Hailat acquired the rare hat trick when he used another Adamson assist for his third tally of the evening. Alone in the six-yard box, Hailat drilled the ball into the back of the net for a 3-0 Pacer lead.

After Sean Howe was able to get one back for the Hurricanes, Hailat continued his onslaught and pushed past the hat trick in the 86th-minute. Hailat took a pass from Alex Lewis (Tampa, Fla./Shorecrest) that he laced into the lower left corner past Georgia Southwestern goalkeeper David Porley.

On senior day at the "Pacer Pit" it was fitting that all of the assists to Hailat's goals came off the boots of seniors with Adamson's two assists and the single assists from Lewis and Gamez-Noriega.

USC Aiken finished with 12 more shots in the match than the Hurricanes with USC Aiken recording 20 shots in the match. Georgia Southwestern took 12 shots.

USC Aiken held a slight 3-2 corner kick advantage.

The Pacers will next travel to Laurinburg, N.C. to face off against non-conference foe St. Andrews at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Two days later, USC Aiken will close the curtains on its regular season by playing host to Anderson at the "Pacer Pit" 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29.
