Pacers Move Up to 15th in Latest Golf World/Nike Division II Coaches’ Poll
NEW YORK – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team moved up two spots to 15th in the latest Golf World/Nike Division II Coaches’ Poll.
The Pacers were ranked 18th in the Golf World/Nike Division II Preseason Coaches’ Poll that was released on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011. In the second poll of the year on Oct. 3, 2011, USC Aiken was ranked 17th.
USC Aiken is one of six Peach Belt Conference teams ranked in the latest poll with Georgia Southwestern (11th), Georgia College (14th), UNC Pembroke (17th), Armstrong Atlantic State (T20th) and Columbus State (23rd) all among the top 25 teams.
Lynn is the No. 1 team in the latest poll with Barry second and West Florida third.
USC Aiken finished its 2011 fall campaign with two second place finishes as a team. USC Aiken’s strong fall was punctuated by the Pacers being ranked No. 1 in the country in the first GolfStat rankings of the 2011-12 season on Sept. 29, 2011.
The USC Aiken golf team will open its 2012 spring schedule at the Seventh Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate.
The tournament, which is hosted by Francis Marion, will be contested on Monday, Feb. 20 and Tuesday, Feb. 21. The Seventh Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.
The Pacers are two-time winners (2006 and 2009) of the annual event.
