USC Aiken to Open 2011 Spring Campaign at Sixth Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team will open its 2011 spring schedule at the Sixth Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate.

The tournament, which is hosted by Francis Marion, will be contested on Monday, Feb. 21 and Tuesday, Feb. 22. The Sixth Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Both days will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

The Wexford Plantation course measures 6,828 yards and is a par 72 layout.

The Pacers are two-time winners (2006 and 2009) of the annual event. Chattanooga captured the 2007 title, while Elon emerged as winners in 2008. Wake Forest won the 2010 tournament.

The 2011 field for the event includes Francis Marion, Connecticut, Davidson, DePaul, Elon, Furman, Indiana, Ohio, Presbyterian, Richmond, Samford, USC Aiken, Western Carolina and William & Mary.

After the Sixth Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate, USC Aiken will travel to Pensacola, Fla. to compete in the West Florida Argonaut Invitational at the Pensacola Country Club on Monday, Feb. 28 and Tuesday, March 1.

The Pacers will return home the next week to play host to the 14th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Palmetto Golf Club on Monday, March 7 and Tuesday, March 8.
