Diaz Claims First Professional Victory

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Former USC Aiken golf standout Roberto Diaz recently claimed his first professional victory in the NGA Hooters Professional Golf Tour Carolina Summer Series Tidewater Golf Club event.

Diaz commandeered the victory in just his fourth professional tournament.

Diaz finished with a nine-under-par three-round tally of 207 to acquire the title in the event contested from Wednesday, Aug. 11-Friday, Aug. 13 at the par 72, 7,044-yard Tidewater Golf Club.

Diaz opened the tournament with one-over-par 73, but he rebounded by posting back-to-back five-under-par 67s to acquire the tournament crown. Diaz garnered $3,850 for the victory at the Tidewater Golf Club.

A four-time All-America selection, Diaz (2005-09) concluded his time at USC Aiken as the all-time scoring leader in school history with a 72.97 scoring average in 130 rounds.
