USC Aiken in 11th After the First Two Rounds of Bobcat Invitational
EATONTON, Ga. – The 17th-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is in 11th place after the first two rounds of action at the Bobcat Invitational at the 6,730-yard par 70 Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee.
The Pacers concluded the first two rounds with a cumulative team score of 593. USC Aiken posted a 303 in the first round before improving by 13 strokes in the second round with a team score of 290.
Entering the tournament coming off back-to-back top 10 finishes, Matt Atkins (Owensboro, Ky. /Henderson State) is leading the Pacer cause after the first two rounds. Atkins is currently tied for 15th at 143 (72-71).
Seventh-ranked North Alabama is the leader through the first two rounds of play at 567 (282-285). Nationally fifth-ranked Lynn (287-281) and eighth-ranked Barry (286-282) are right behind in a tie for second at 568.
West Florida's Otto Bonning is in first place individually at 136. Bonning posted an even 70 in the first round before carding a four-under-par 66 in round two.
North Alabama's Tyler Chandler is in second place after two rounds at 138 (70-68).
The third and final round of the Bobcat Invitational will be contested tomorrow (Tuesday, March 22). The first Pacer is scheduled to tee off at 9:50 a.m.
