Nelson Chosen South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week

AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken men’s basketball player Re’mon Nelson was named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on Jan. 22, 2012.

Nelson has now won the award twice in the 2011-12 season. He was also named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on Dec. 18, 2011.

Nelson averaged a team-best 15.3 points, 2.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 rebounds per game in USC Aiken’s three games last week.

He was particularly lethal from beyond the arc last week where was 7-for-13 (53.8 percent). He shot 43.3 percent (13-for-30) from the field in total on the week.

Nelson hit upon 72.2 percent (13-for-18) of his free throw attempts on the week.

The Columbus, Ohio native poured in double figures in all three of the Pacer games on the week, including scoring a game-high 22 points in USC Aiken’s home win over North Georgia on Saturday, Jan. 21. It was his second 20 or more point game of the 2011-12 regular season.
