Council Named South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week
AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken men’s
basketball player Sterling Council was named the South Carolina
Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of
the Week on Dec. 11, 2011.
Council has now won the weekly award twice in the 2011-12 season.
He also won the award on Nov. 21, 2011 after averaging 15 points,
3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game in USC Aiken’s first
two games of the regular season.
The senior guard from Camden, S.C. concluded USC Aiken’s 31-point 98-67 win over Flagler at the Convocation Center on Saturday, Dec. 10 with a career-best 23 points.
Council shot 70 percent (7-for-10) from the floor in collecting the 23 points. He was 7-for-7 from the free throw line and 2-of-2 from beyond the arc. He also had four steals and three assists in the Pacer win.
Council is leading the Pacers in the 2011-12 season with 14.3 points per game.
