McMasters Named to PBC Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team

AUGUSTA, Ga. – USC Aiken men’s basketball player Casey McMasters was tabbed to the 2009-10 Peach Belt Conference Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team on Friday, April 2. The team was released from the conference office.

McMasters was one of six players on the squad. He is the only Pacer to claim the award twice as he also was a member of the 2008-09 PBC Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team along with Brian Egwuatu.

The Harrisburg, Pa. native will graduate from USC Aiken in May with a degree in Business Finance. He currently owns a 3.241 Grade Point Average.

On the court in the 2009-10 season, McMasters averaged 9.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. He recorded 36 assists.

A product of Central Dauphin High School, McMasters led the team in scoring four times during the 2009-10 season, scoring a season-high 21 points against Flagler at the Convocation Center. He was 6-for-11 from the field in the game, connecting on 5-of-7 of his shots from beyond the arc. He was a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe in the game.

In total, McMasters scored in double figures in 15 games for the Pacers in the 2009-10 season.

He ended his Pacer career in the top 11 in school history in total points with 798.

The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team’s events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.

Founded in 1991, the Peach Belt Conference is home to 28 NCAA Division II National Championships. The PBC features 13 member institutions in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama that compete in 13 championship sports. The 2009-10 members of the PBC are Augusta State University, Armstrong Atlantic State University, Clayton State University, Columbus State University, Flagler College, Francis Marion University, Georgia College & State University, Georgia Southwestern State University, Lander University, University of Montevallo, North Georgia College & State University, University of North Carolina at Pembroke and the University of South Carolina Aiken.
