PBC Champion Pacers to Square Off With League Rival GCSU in NCAA Tournament

AIKEN, S.C. - The 2010 Peach Belt Conference Tournament champion USC Aiken Pacers are the sixth seed in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional and the Pacers will play PBC rival and third-seeded Georgia College & State in the first round at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 13 at Christenberry Fieldhouse in Augusta, Ga.

The NCAA Division II Southeast Regional will begin with first round games on Saturday, March 13. The regional semifinals are scheduled for Sunday, March 14. The regional championship will be contested on Tuesday, March 16.

The winner of the USC Aiken and GCSU contest will play the winner of the No. 7 Montevallo-No. 2 Mount Olive contest in the semifinals on Sunday, March 14.

Augusta State, who is hosting the regional for the fourth straight year, will play eighth-seeded Brevard in the first round, while fourth-seeded Catawba and fifth-seeded Anderson will play for the right to take on the winner of the ASU-Brevard contest.

The Pacers will be participating in their third straight NCAA Division II Tournament. The Pacers have been to the NCAA Tournament four times in their history. Prior to USC Aiken's first of now three consecutive NCAA trips, the Pacers had last been in the tournament in 1998.

Last season, USC Aiken advanced to its first NCAA Division "Sweet Sixteen." The Pacers are 3-3 all-time in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Earlier Sunday, USC Aiken, playing in its third straight Marvin Vanover Peach Belt Conference Basketball Championship Game, claimed its first Peach Belt Conference Tournament title since 1993.

USC Aiken is currently 19-10 overall on the 2009-10 season. The Pacers have won a school-record 71 games over the last three seasons.

The Pacers and GCSU squared off earlier this season in Milledgeville, Ga. with the Pacers earning a 69-65 victory over the Bobcats on Feb. 13, 2010.
