Bellantoni Becomes All-Time Stolen Base Leader in Florida League History

DELAND, Fla. – University of South Carolina Aiken senior outfielder Stephen Bellantoni recently became the all-time leader in stolen bases in Florida Collegiate Summer League history.

Bellantoni is presently leading the league in 2011 with 31 stolen bases. Coupled with his league-leading 24 stolen bases in 2010, Bellantoni’s 55 career stolen bases give him the most base swipes in league history entering the Florida League playoffs. DeLand with a record of 23-17 is the third seed in the upcoming playoffs.

The Pacer centerfielder has been a two-time Florida League All-Star after earning an All-Star nod earlier this summer. He was the Most Valuable Player of the 2010 Florida League All-Star game.

Playing for the DeLand Suns, Bellantoni is currently hitting .299 in 40 games. Bellantoni has scored 30 runs to go along with eight RBIs.

In his first season in a Pacer uniform in 2011, Bellantoni, a transfer out of Lake Sumter Community College, hit .289 (56-for-194) in 50 games started. He was one of only two Pacers to start all 50 games in 2011. The Oviedo, Fla. native stole a team second-best 23 bases this past season.
