USC Aiken 17th in Latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 Poll

Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II Top 30 (March 7)

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team is ranked 17th in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II Top 30.

USC Aiken is in the top 20 for the second consecutive week.

The Pacers are one of seven Peach Belt Conference teams in the latest top 30 with Georgia College still the No. 1 team in the nation. UNC Pembroke is ninth and North Georgia is 10th.

Francis Marion is just ahead of USC Aiken in 13th, while Armstrong Atlantic State (20th) gives the PBC six teams in the top 20. Columbus State is the final PBC team ranked in the latest poll with the Cougars tied with four others for 30th.

USC Aiken commences the upcoming week with a 13-4 (1-2 PBC) record.

The Pacers have won nine of their last 11 outings.

USC Aiken and Catawba will next play a two-game midweek series at Roberto Hernandez Stadium this week.

The first game of the midweek two-game set is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8. A day later, the series will finish up with a 6 p.m. game at the ‘Bert on Wednesday, March 9.

The Pacers will hit the road for the first time in the 2011 season later this week for a short road trip to Peach Belt Conference rival Lander in Greenwood, S.C. The two PBC East Division rivals will open the three-game series with a twinbill that begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 12.

The series will conclude with a 1 p.m. single game on Sunday, March 13.
