USC Aiken PBC Tournament Notes
AIKEN, S.C. – For the third consecutive year, the Peach
Belt Conference Baseball Championship will be played at USC
Aiken’s Roberto Hernandez Stadium.
The 2010 Peach Belt Conference Baseball Tournament, which is part
of the PBC Championship Series Presented by GEICO, will be
contested on Saturday, May 8 and Sunday, May 9.
The top four teams from the Peach Belt Conference’s East and
West divisions advanced to the 2010 PBC Baseball Championship at
Roberto Hernandez Stadium. All but one of the scheduled seven games
of the 2010 PBC Baseball Championship will be played at Roberto
Hernandez Stadium as one of the first round contests is scheduled
to be played at Lake Olmstead Stadium in Augusta, Ga. The stadium
is the home of the South Atlantic League’s Augusta
GreenJackets.
The single elimination, eight-team tournament will begin on
Saturday, May 8 with PBC East No. 1 Francis Marion squaring off
against West No. 4 Georgia Southwestern at 11 a.m. at Roberto
Hernandez Stadium. At the same time, the West No. 2 North Georgia
Saints will be squaring off against the East No. 3 Flagler Saints
at 11 a.m. at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
Shortly after the conclusion of the Francis Marion-Georgia
Southwestern tilt, East No. 2 UNC Pembroke and West No. 3 Columbus
State will take to the field against one another at 2:30 p.m. at
Roberto Hernandez Stadium.
Tournament host USC Aiken will play in the final game on Saturday
at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. The fourth seed in the PBC East, USC
Aiken will open the PBC Tournament against PBC regular season
champion and West No. 1 seed Georgia College & State at 6 p.m.
on Saturday, May 8 at the ‘Bert.
The 2010 PBC Baseball Tournament will conclude on Sunday, May 9
with the first semifinal game at 11 a.m. with the second semifinal
to follow at 2:30 p.m. The winners of those two games will
play for the PBC Championship at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Tickets to the tournament are $7 for adults 13 years and older.
The ticket price for children ages 6 to 12 will be $5. Children
under the age of six are free. A ticket will be good for all games
that day.
For those unable to attend the championship there will be live
stats and a free live webcast for each game courtesy of the USC
Aiken athletic department, the Peach Belt Conference, Presto Sports
and Penn Atlantic. The game at Lake Olmstead will only feature live
stats as part of a partnership with North Georgia Sports
