Threat of Inclement Weather Forces Outback Cup to Move to Wednesday

AIKEN, S.C. - Due to the threat of heavy rain and extremely cold weather in the area, USC Aiken and Augusta State will now play the first game of the Second Annual Outback Cup at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3 at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.
 
The second game of the 2010 Outback Cup will be at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23 in Augusta, Ga.     

The Pacers claimed the inaugural Outback Cup last year.

The 2010 Outback Cup is sponsored by Outback Steakhouse, which will be giving away special prizes throughout the course of the baseball game on Wednesday. Every inning there is a chance to win a special prize!

The first 100 USC Aiken students through the gate will receive a coupon for a Blooming Onion at Outback Steakhouse.

The USC Aiken baseball team opened defense of its 2009 Peach Belt Conference championship last weekend by sweeping a three-game series from league newcomer Montevallo in Montevallo, Ala.

The Pacers won game one 13-9 before taking a 4-2 victory in the second game. USC Aiken closed out the series by trouncing the Falcons 15-4 in the series finale on Sunday. USC Aiken in total outscored the Falcons 32-15 in the three-game set.

The 21st-ranked Pacers enter the upcoming week in the midst of a five-game winning streak. USC Aiken is now 8-6 overall. They are a perfect 3-0 in the PBC.

After tangling with the rival Jaguars earlier in the week, USC Aiken will close the week with an important PBC series with No. 3 Francis Marion in Florence, S.C. The three-game series begins with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, March 6. The three-game set will close with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday, March 7.
