Loker Named Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference league office announced on Monday, April 26 that USC Aiken’s JJ Loker had been selected as the league’s Freshman of the Week.

A product of Spotswood High School, Loker started all four games last week for the Pacers in right field, but he also played at second and third base for USC Aiken over the course of its four games last week.

On the week, Loker hit .389 with three runs scored and four RBIs. He had a hit in all four of USC Aiken’s games.

Loker’s best game came against No. 24 Catawba. Loker was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in the Pacers’ win over the nationally-ranked Indians. In USC Aiken’s domination of Claflin one day later, Loker was 2-for-6 with a triple and two RBIs.

The Elkton, Va. native is hitting .353 with 23 RBIs and 22 runs scored in total on the year entering USC Aiken’s final two games of the regular season this weekend against Catawba.

USC Aiken commences its final week of the regular season with a record of 31-16 on the 2010 season. USC Aiken’s 30th victory of the season last week came in record-breaking fashion against Claflin. The victory means that as a program the Pacers have now registered 10 consecutive 30-win campaigns.

The Pacers will play their final two games of the 2010 regular season in the friendly confines of Roberto Hernandez Stadium against the nationally-ranked Indians of Catawba.

The two-game set at the ‘Bert will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 30. Just one day later, USC Aiken will close the curtains on its 2010 regular season by playing a 4 p.m. contest against Catawba. The final game of the regular season will serve as Senior Day.
