Pacers Shine in the Classroom During 2010-11 Academic Year
AIKEN, S.C. – During the 2010-11 academic year, University of South Carolina Aiken student-athletes earned an average grade point average of 2.941.
Also, 106 (51 percent) of USC Aiken’s student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.00 or higher for the academic year. USC Aiken had five student-athletes, Scott Berry (Men’s Soccer), Aubrey Danielson (Women’s Soccer), Stephanie Humphrey (Women’s Tennis), Samantha Lukralle (Volleyball) and Tripp Warrick (Baseball) earn a perfect 4.000 GPA for the 2010-11 academic year.
For the year, seven teams earned an average GPA of over 3.000.
The spring 2011 semester saw USC Aiken's student-athletes earn an average GPA of 3.047. Also, 111 (59 percent) of USC Aiken’s student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.000 or higher, and were named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. This represents the largest number and highest percentage of Pacer student-athletes to earn a 3.000 or higher GPA for a semester in school history. USC Aiken had 11 student-athletes, Scott Berry (Men’s Soccer), Brandy Bossle (Softball), Aubrey Danielson (Women’s Soccer), Ashley Farwell (Volleyball), Stephanie Humphrey (Women’s Tennis), Chelsey Kight (Volleyball), Zachary Kilday (Baseball), Samantha Lukralle (Volleyball), Claire Patten (Volleyball), Kofi Trim (Men’s Soccer) and Tripp Warrick (Baseball) earn a 4.000 GPA for the spring 2011 semester.
The spring 2011 semester student-athlete average GPA of 3.047 is the first semester the average GPA of USC Aiken's student-athletes has exceeded 3.000 for a semester. Additionally, it marks the seventh consecutive spring semester to see an increased GPA by Pacer student-athletes. For the semester, seven of USC Aiken’s 11 varsity teams earned an average GPA of over 3.000
During USC Aiken’s May 2011 commencement exercises, 25 current or former student-athletes were degree candidates and a total of 40 current or former student-athletes were degree candidates during the 2010-11 academic year.
