Faison Tabbed Days Inn Downtown Aiken USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month

AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken men’s basketball player Byron Faison has been tabbed as the Days Inn Downtown Aiken USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of December.

The senior guard finished USC Aiken’s six games in the month of December averaging a team-best 12.3 points per game.

Faison shot 43.9 percent (25-for-57) from the field in the six Pacer games. He was lethal from the free throw line where he was 17-for-19 (89.5 percent) in the month of December.

The Sumter, S.C. native scored in double figures in three of USC Aiken’s six outings during the month of December.

Faison’s two best contests individually in December came in USC Aiken’s final two games of the month with the Crestwood High School product scoring 24 points in USC Aiken’s win over No. 23 Virginia Union on Dec. 17, 2010.

In USC Aiken’s final game of December, Faison finished with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting in a win over Mars Hill on Dec. 30, 2010.

In the final two Pacer wins of the month, Faison was a perfect 12-for-12 from the charity stripe, including 8-of-8 in the win over nationally-ranked Virginia Union.

The Days Inn Downtown Aiken USC Aiken Athletic Department Student Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.

Each month one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
