USC Aiken Fall Athletic Teams Set to Open Preseason
AIKEN, S.C. – The 2010-11 athletic year at USC Aiken is
officially underway as of Friday, Aug. 13 with volleyball,
men’s and women’s soccer and cross country reporting
for preseason practice and conditioning.
The fall athletic teams at USC Aiken reported to campus on Friday
to get situated and get everything settled before beginning their
rigorous preseason practice schedules on Saturday. The fall
athletic teams also took part in an athletic student-athlete
orientation on Friday afternoon.
All four of the varsity athletic programs about to enter their
season at USC Aiken will have just five full days of practice
available before school begins on Thursday, Aug. 19.
Three of USC Aiken’s four fall programs will begin their
regular season campaigns the opening four days of September.
The USC Aiken men’s soccer team will kick off their regular
season with two games during the first four days of September. The
Pacers will first play host to Conference Carolinas foe Limestone
at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2. Two days later, USC Aiken will hit
the road for the first time to square off against Catawba at 2 p.m.
on Saturday, Sept. 4.
The USC Aiken cross county team will commence its 2010 regular
season meet schedule on Friday, Sept. 3 with the Pacers competing
in the 2010 Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C.
The USC Aiken volleyball team will begin its 2010 schedule by
playing four matches in two days at the Lees-McRae Tournament in
Banner Elk, N.C. The Pacers will begin the event by tangling with
host Lees-McRae at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3. They will then square
off against Peach Belt Conference foe Flagler at 7 p.m.
USC Aiken will begin its second day of the regular season early
with a 10 a.m. match against Palm Beach Atlantic. They will then
close the Lees-McRae tournament by squaring off against Coker at
3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4.
The last fall athletic team to open regular season action, USC
Aiken’s women’s soccer team will begin its 2010 regular
season at home on Wednesday, Sept. 8 against Belmont Abbey.
Kick-off in the match is slated for 5 p.m. at the “Pacer
Pit.”
USC Aiken’s golf team is not necessarily a fall athletic
program as the Pacers compete in tournaments in the fall and
spring, but USC Aiken’s 2010 fall golf campaign will begin on
Monday, Sept. 6 with the Pacers playing host to the 2010 Kiawah
Island Invitational at the Cougar Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island,
S.C. The two-round tournament will conclude on Tuesday, Sept.
