USC Aiken Places 47 Student-Athletes on DII ADA Academic Achievement Award List
CLEVELAND – The NCAA Division II Athletics Directors Association (DII ADA) announced the 2010-11 recipients of the DII ADA Academic Achievement Awards on Wednesday, Aug. 10 and 47 University of South Carolina Aiken student-athletes received the prestigious honor.
The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the NCAA Division II level.
Ninety-eight institutions (including five Peach Belt Conference institutions) sent in nominees for the 2010-11 Academic Achievement Awards, while a total of 3,676 student-athletes are being recognized this year.
The 47 USC Aiken student-athletes on the list represented 10 different sports at USC Aiken.
In order for a student-athlete to receive the Academic Achievement Award the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale and have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work. They also must have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year.
